Portion of Piko Road in Lāwa‘i to Be Closed
A portion of a Lāwa‘i roadway will be temporarily closed in early September.
Piko Road, from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Kōloa Road, will be closed from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 6-8 so the county Roads Division can conduct tree trimming, grass cutting and shoulder maintenance work along the highway, weather permitting.
Only residents and businesses who live and work in the affected area will be allowed through traffic during work hours.
During the road closure, Kōloa Road can be used as a detour. As a reminder, Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road not intended to be used as a detour route and not designed for high traffic or truck traffic volumes. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Ōma‘o Road.
An electronic message board was installed to provide information. Motorists are advised to follow all road work signs, use alternate routes and allow extra time to get to destinations.
For more information about the road closure, call Bryson Vivas with the Roads Division at 808-241-4844.
