The county Solid Waste Division is notifying the public that some services at two island rubbish transfer stations will be temporarily disrupted by maintenance work in September.

The dates of the maintenance work and transfer stations to be affected are:

  • On Friday, Sept. 2, all services will be closed at the Hanalei transfer station. Repairs are estimated to take four hours. The transfer station will open once repairs are finished. During this temporary closure, the public is advised to use the Kapa‘a transfer station.
  • From Sept. 8-9, the Kapa‘a transfer station will only accept bagged trash because of repairs. The public is advised to use the Līhu‘e refuse transfer station for bulky item service during this time. All other services, such as green waste, metals, tires, etc., will remain available.

For questions, contact the Solid Waste Division at 808-241-4841 or via email at [email protected].
