Lane Closures Scheduled For Po‘ipū Road in Kōloa
Portions of a Kōloa roadway will be closed next month for construction.
The county Department of Public Works and Pacific Concrete Cutting and Coring Inc. announced that portions of Po‘ipū Road near Kōloa Elementary School will be closed from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays Sept. 1-30.
No work will occur Sept. 5 in observance of Labor Day. Road work also will not occur during peak traffic times for school drop off and pick up. Safe walking routes for students, parents and pedestrians will be provided while work taking place.
This project is scheduled to be completed in December. Dates and times are subject to change depending on weather and other factors.
The short lane closures are necessary to improve pedestrian access to Kōloa Elementary, including new sidewalks, crosswalks and Americans with Disabilities Act compliant ramps.
Motorists should expect brief occasional delays while work is happening. As a reminder, the speed limit near Kōloa Elementary is 15 mph while school is in session.
