Weekly Road Closures: Aug.20-26

The Department of Transportation issued its weekly list of road and lane closures for Aug. 20-26. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

1) KŌLOA (24/7 CONDITION)

Closure of the left turn from Maluhia Road onto westbound Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) for intersection improvements. 

2) KŌLOA

Closure of the shoulder lane in the north/Lihue-bound direction on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) between mile markers 5.74 and 6.44, vicinity of Maluhia Road and Kahili Road, on Monday, August 22, through Friday, August 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for shoulder grading.

3) LĀWA‘I TO ‘ELE‘ELE

Roving single lane closure possible in either direction on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) between Upa Road and vicinity of Waialo Road on Monday, August 22, through Friday, August 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair.

— KAPULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 51) —

1) LĪHU‘E

Single alternating lane closure on Kapule Highway (Route 51) possible in either direction between mile markers 2.91 and 2.98, Kapule Highway Bridge, on Wednesday, August 24, through Friday, August 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree trimming.

— KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

1) WAILUA (24/7 CONDITION)

Right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a Bypass, for the Kūhiō Highway Short-Term Improvements.

2) WAILUA (NIGHT WORK)

Two lane closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in either direction between mile markers 5.6 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapaa Bypass, nightly from 8 p.m. Sunday, August 21, through 5 a.m. Friday, August 26, for paving for the Kūhiō Highway Short-Term Improvements.

3) KĪLAUEA (NIGHT WORK)

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction between Kapuna Road and Kahiliholo Road, nightly from 8 p.m. Sunday, August 21, through 5 a.m. Friday, August 26, for installation of rumble strips and pavement striping.

4) HANALEI (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between Kumu Road and Waikoko Bay, Saturday, August 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Monday, August 22, through Friday, August 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree and grass cutting.

5) WAIKOKO

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between Waikoko Bay and Lumahai Beach Park, Monday, August 22, through Friday, August 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for rockfall mitigation.

6) WAINIHA

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between Ananalu Road and Alealea Road, on Monday, August 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for slurry sealing of pavement.

— HALEWILI ROAD (ROUTE 540) —

1) WAILUA

Single alternating lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.17 and 3.67, Huehu Road and Kau Wai Street, on Monday, August 22, and Friday, August 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for guardrail cleaning.

— KUAMO‘O ROAD (ROUTE 580) —

Single alternating lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) possible in either direction between mile markers 5.57 and 5.89 in the vicinity of Wailua Reservoir, on Monday, August 22, and Tuesday, August 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree trimming.
