A state lawmaker from Kauaʻi County is having a surgical procedure done today (Thursday, Aug. 11).
Senate President Ronald D. Kouchi, who represents Kauaʻi and Niʻihau, will undergo hip surgery later today to address longstanding pain in his right hip. Recovery is expected to take at least one month.
In his absence, Senate Vice President Michelle Kidani, who represents parts of Oʻahu, will preside over the judicial special session expected later this month.
