The county is notifying the public that an emergency water service shutdown is in effect for portions of Līhuʻe.

The county Department of Water announced the emergency shutdown is for a part of Rice Street, from Ho‘olaulea Way to Wa‘apa Road including Wa‘apa Road, and part of Nāwiliwili Road, from Wa‘apa Road to Kanoa Street, because of a recent mainline break in the area.

Water service will be turned off for about 6-7 hours to conduct investigation and repairs of the mainline break.

Department of Water crews are on the scene and could implement lane closures to create a safe work zone for repairs. Motorists are advised to drive with caution when traveling in the area.
