Swinging Bridge to be Closed for Repair Work

A portion of Menehune Road and the Waimea Swinging Bridge be closed on weekdays, June 27 to Aug. 12, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Department of Public Works and its contractor Prometheus Constriction announced.

However, local traffic may pass through the area from noon to 12:30 p.m.

The closure is necessary to allow Prometheus Construction to install rockfall impact barriers above Menehune Road.

The Roads Division will provide “Road Closed” signs and a message board with information about road closures during construction.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources’ alternate emergency access route from Waimea Canyon Drive will only be open to residents and first responders with 4-wheel drive usage.
