Weekly COVID Update: 8K New Cases Confirmed Statewide

The state Department of Health reported 8,033 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, June 8, bringing the statewide total to 290,652. Eight new fatalities were reported.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 201,572
Hawaiʻi: 32,184
Maui: 33,269
Kaua‘i: 14,705
Moloka‘i: 1,101
Lana‘i: 743
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 7,078

Of those total cases, 9,454 required hospitalization, with 189 currently hospitalized. At least 1,465 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
