District Court of the 5th Circuit on Kaua‘i will have a new judge, if confirmed, following his appointment to the bench by Hawai‘i Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald.

Gregory H. Meyers was appointed to replace Judge Edmund Acoba, who retired. Meyers is currently employed with Meyers & Meyers LLC, and has been associated with De Costa Hempey Meyers LLC as a partner and Of Counsel since 2014. He was a partner at Hempey & Meyers LLP from 2007-14 and also served as a per diem judge in District Family Court of the 5th Circuit from 2014-16.

Meyers is a graduate of George Washington University Law School and was admitted to the Hawai‘i State Bar in 2002.

Throughout his career, he has been active in numerous legal and community organizations, including serving on the boards of Junior Achievement Kaua‘i, Hale ‘Ōpio, Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i, Friends of the Children’s Justice Center and Hōʻike Community TV.

Recktenwald made his appointment from a nomination list presented to him in April by the Judicial Selection Commission. The appointment is subject to state Senate confirmation.
