Update: Because of mechanical issues with the contractor, road resurfacing work on Papalina Road will now take place from June 8-23 on weekdays.

Original story: Construction work will require the closure of portions of a Kālaheo roadway beginning next week.

The county Department of Public Works and contractor Maui Kupuno Builders announced that parts of Papalina Road, from Waha Road to Kaumuali‘i Highway, will be closed from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays from May 31-June 13, weather permitting.

The lane closures are necessary for road resurfacing work.

Motorists should make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary closures, use alternate routes and allow extra time to get to destinations. No parking will be allowed in the work zones, and flaggers will direct traffic from both ends of the work area.

Questions can be addressed to Maui Kupono Builders at 808-369-1800 or Todd Ozaki with the county at 808-241-4845.
