Lane Closures Planned For ‘Akuli Street, Hanamāʻulu Road Near King Kaumualiʻi Elementary
Work to improve pedestrian access to King Kaumualiʻi Elementary School in Hanamāʻulu will require lane closures on sections of ‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road.
The county Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC. said sections of the two roadways will be under short lane closures from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, May 23, through June 4. Motorists should expect brief occasional delays.
As a reminder, the speed limit near King Kaumualiʻi Elementary is 15 mph while school is in session.
The improvements being made include new sidewalks, crosswalks and ramps that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additional work will include repaving and restriping Hanamāʻulu Road in front of the school.
Safe walking routes for students, parents and pedestrians will be provided during the work period.
The improvement project is scheduled to be complete in June; however, dates and times are subject to change depending on weather and other factors.
