Several lane closures are in effect around the island this week, according to the county Department of Public Works.

‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road Lane Closures

Sections of ‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road, near King Kaumualiʻi Elementary School, will be under short lane closures from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays through May 6.

“The closures are necessary for improvements to pedestrian access to the school, including new sidewalks, crosswalks and (Americans with Disabilities Act) ramps,” said a news release from DPW.

Motorists should expect brief occasional delays and are reminded that the speed limit is 15 mph in the area while school is in session.
