Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery to Reopen

A learning facility focused on the traditions and knowledge of the ocean and inspiring ocean stewardship is reopening.

The public is invited to a reopening celebration for Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, May 1.

The reopening will feature free hands-on learning opportunities about the Hawaiian voyaging canoe Hōkūle‘a and Polynesian wayfinding. Keiki have the chance to make a wooden replica of Hōkūle‘a and learn how traditional navigators use a star compass and there will be ocean-themed character appearances.

The reopening events are free.

Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery is located in Suite E3, next to GameStop, at the Kukui Grove Center in Līhu‘e.

The learning facility offers a tour of the Hawaiian archipelago, including Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary and Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. Guests visit an underwater world through videos, interactive displays and hands-on activities. Admission to Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery is free.
