Signup for Keiki, Junior Lifeguard Programs Open Next Month

Online registration for the 2022 Keiki and Junior Lifeguard programs will begin on May 2, Ocean Bureau Safety officials announced Thursday.

The program is free and will offer ocean safety awareness and lifesaving skills instruction. Click here to sign up. Enrollment is limited.

The Keiki Lifeguard Program is available to children ages 8 to 11 who can swim and run 50 yards nonstop. The Junior Lifeguard Program is open to youth ages 12 to 17 who can swim and run 100 yards nonstop.

The free program runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates at the following locations:

• June 13-17: Salt Pond Beach
• June 20-24: Kalapakī Beach
• June 27 to July 1: Hanalei Pavillion
• July 11-15: Wanini Beach
• July 18-22: Kalapakī Beach

Proof of birth certificate is required for each participant. Participants will need to bring their lunch, sunscreen, and a towel to the training daily.
