The county Department of Public Works is informing the public about lane closures planned for or beginning next week on some island roadways.

‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road near King Kaumualiʻi Elementary School

DPW and Goodfellow Bros. LLC. announced in a press release that sections of ‘Akuli Street and Hanamāʻulu Road will be under short lane closures from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays from April 11-22. There will be no work on April 15 in observance of Good Friday.

The closures are necessary for improvements to pedestrian access to the school, including new sidewalks, crosswalks and ramps.

Motorists should expect brief occasional delays and are reminded that the speed limit is 15 mph near King Kaumualiʻi Elementary while school is in session.
