Residents affected by the January rockslide in Waimea will continue to get the help they need thanks to a move by Kaua‘i County Mayor Derek Kawakami.

According to a news release from the mayor’s office, Kawakami signed the first supplementary emergency proclamation on March 4 for the county as a result of the rockslide that occurred Jan. 4 on Menehune Road.

The purpose of the proclamation is to provide continued relief for disaster damages, losses and suffering and protect the health, safety and welfare of Kaua‘i residents and visitors.
