Portion of Hanalei Base Yard, Neighborhood Center Parking Lot Closed

Construction work is requiring the closure of a portion of the Hanalei Base Yard and Hanalei Neighborhood Center parking lot.

According to a news release from the county, officials said the scope of work includes improvements and construction of the Hanalei Base Yard flood mitigation project and community playground.

The $4.8 million project includes improvements to the base yard’s infrastructure, office space for county departments and garage space for equipment. Additionally, through a partnership with the Hanalei Initiative, Hanalei-to-Haena Community Association and a community design committee, a public playground will be built next to the Hanalei Neighborhood Center.

Work is scheduled from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. This portion of the project is estimated to be completed in November.
