Lane Closures for Mailihuna Road Scheduled; Night Closure Planned for Kawaihau Road

Construction work will cause two of the island’s roadways to be closed temporarily next week.

According to a news release from the county Department of Public Works and Grace Pacific LLC., portions of Mailihuna Road will be closed from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Feb. 28-March 4. Additionally, Kawaihau Road, near Nunu Road, will have a one-lane closure from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. Tuesday, March 1.

The periodic one-lane closures on Mailihuna and Kawaihau roads are necessary for sidewalk construction, driveway construction and roadway excavation. A temporary detour route be available through Kolohala Road.

Motorists are advised to expect brief and occasional delays.

Exercise caution and drive slowly when commuting through the work area and along the detour route, which is narrow and near the homes of residents.
