Kauaʻi Health Officials Report COVID-Related Fatalities for Third Consecutive Day

The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announced two fatalities and 88 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, Feb. 10.

One fatality was a female visitor in her 60s who was hospitalized. The second fatality was a male resident in his 90s who was not hospitalized. There are a total of 24 Kaua‘i COVID fatalities to date.

“While our cases are declining, we have announced five fatalities this week,” said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami. “This is a harsh reminder that we need to continue to take this virus seriously and remain vigilant. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of these individuals. Their loved ones are in our prayers and have our deepest condolences.”

Today’s cases bring the number of active cases to 308, with six hospitalized, and 11,340 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 11,261 confirmed locally, eight probable, and 71 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.

The Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention COVID Testing Center is no longer running out of tickets for testing by 9 a.m. Tests are available for the public. Upon arrival at the test center, you will receive an appointment time to return later in the day. Appointments are given on a first-come, first-served basis. You must wait until your ticketed time to be tested.

The Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall testing center is limited to 500 tests per day, and the free mobile testing van is limited to 100 tests per day.
