Portion of Ala Kalanikaumaka Road to Be Closed

The county Department of Public Works and contractor Maui Kupuno Builders on Wednesday, Feb. 2, announced that part of Ala Kalanikaumaka Road will be closed next week.

The roadway is scheduled to be closed from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Feb. 7-11 from the Kōloa Road roundabout to Lopaka Paipa Boulevard in Kōloa, weather permitting. Motorists will be detoured to Lopaka Paipa Boulevard during the closure.

The closure is necessary for equipment mobilization, construction preparation and road resurfacing work.

Signs and flaggers will be positioned along the closure to detour traffic around the work zone. During this time, no parking will be allowed in the work zones.

Motorists are urged to make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the closure, detour and adjusted traffic flow and are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow for extra time to get to destinations.
