High Levels of Bacteria Detected in Lydgate Park Waters
The Hawai‘i State Department of Health is retesting Lydgate Beach Park waters after high levels of bacteria were detected this morning, Jan. 25, during routine beach monitoring. Levels of 782 per 100 mL were measured.
“DOH is uncertain about the representativeness of the first sample,” officials stated. “This beach has historically met the acceptable beach threshold level, and there is no known source of fecal contamination.”
DOH has collected another sample and is retesting the site. DOH will update the notification based on the results of this retesting.
