The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a high surf advisory for portions of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau.

The advisory will remain in effect through 6 p.m. today.

Surf heights along north-facing shores of both islands are expected to range from 18-24 feet today. Surf heights along west-facing shores of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i are expected to range from 12-16 feet.

The NWS says to expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents, which will make swimming difficult and dangerous.
