Weekly Road Closures: Jan. 15-21

The Department of Transportation announced the following road and lane closures for the week of Jan. 15-21. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Monday, Jan. 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, unless permitted. Kuhio Highway special use lanes will not be operational.

— KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (ROUTE 56) —

1) WAILUA (NIGHT/WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure and narrowed lanes of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in both directions between mile markers 5.6 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a Bypass, on Sunday evening, Jan. 16 through Friday morning, Jan. 21, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for road and shoulder work.

2) KAPA‘A

Single lane closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the eastbound direction between mile markers 7.2 and 7.4, Kamoa Road and Ala Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 18 through Friday, Jan. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement striping work.

3) KEALIA (24-HOUR/WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Right shoulder closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the westbound direction between mile markers 12.2 and 13, Kukuihale Road and Kamalomaloo Stream, on Sunday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 21, 24-hours-a-day, for shoulder work.

4) KīLAUEA

Shoulder closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in both directions near mile marker 23, Malulani Street and Kalihiwae Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 18 through Friday, Jan. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for road maintenance and vegetation clearing.

5) PRINCEVILLE

Single lane closure and lane shift on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in both directions near mile marker 27, Kapaka Street and Ka Haku Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 18 through Friday, Jan. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for construction for the new Hanalei Valley Viewpoint.
