A high surf warning is in effect along north- and west-facing shores of Kauaʻi until 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7.

According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, surf will be 22 to 28 feet along north-facing shores and 16 to 22 feet along west-facing shores

Impacts are expected to be high. Beachgoers should expect ocean water occasionally sweeping
across portions of beaches, strong breaking waves, and strong longshore and rip currents.

Breaking waves may occasionally impact harbors making navigating the harbor channel dangerous.

Large, breaking surf, significant shorebreak and dangerous currents make entering the water hazardous. Anyone entering the water could face significant injury or death.
