The first Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) monthly donation event for 2022 is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 14.

The event will take place at the Kaua‘i Resource Center (KRC) located at 3460 Ahukini Road in Līhu‘e from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents, businesses, and other organizations can bring in unwanted or unneeded items for reuse including clothing, small furniture, children’s toys, books, and shoes. Clothing and textiles do not need to be in good condition. Torn or stained clothing is OK.

Officials ask that people not bring eWaste, chemicals, appliances, or broken items. The public is encouraged to check with their local thrift stores to see if they are capable of taking donations before bringing items to the KRC.

Due to health and safety concerns due to heavy equipment in the area and to reduce the chance of injury to customers unloading heavy items the Salvation Army requests that the public remain in their vehicle while on-site.

The ARC also offers pick-up services to thrift stores and businesses. Call 808-241-4336 to schedule new service. For individuals that would like home pick-up service, call Habitat for Humanity Restore at 808-335-6105 or RP’s Random Closet 808-346-0020. RP’s Random Closet is a for-profit agency.

For general information about general recycling or reuse, call 808-241-4841 or visit www.kauai.gov/recycling or www.kauai.gov/reuse.
