The state is expecting an influx of holiday travelers and is warning people that parking at the five main airports throughout the islands will be limited.

The state Department of Transportation Airports Division says the major airports in Honolulu, Kahului, Kona, Hilo and Līhu‘e are expected to be busy. The DOT is asking anyone traveling this holiday season to consider getting dropped off by family or friends, taking a taxi or a ride-sharing service.

Travelers are advised to arrive early and allow for additional walking time to the ticket lobbies, as some public parking lots are farther from the main terminals than others. The maximum parking rate for a 24-hour period at the Honolulu airport is $18 and $15 at neighbor island airports.
