Kauaʻi Weekly Lane Closures: Dec. 11-17

Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation announced road and lane closure for the week of Dec. 11-17. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— KAUMUALIʻI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

LĪHUʻE

Single lane closure on Kaumualiʻi Highway (Route 50) between Anonui Street and Rice Street in the westbound direction on Monday, Dec. 13 through Tuesday, Dec. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for site maintenance to support measurement of pavement conditions. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control (contraflow).

Single lane closure on Kaumualiʻi Highway (Route 50) Upa Road and Piko Road in the vicinity of mile marker 9.2 on Tuesday, Dec. 14 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency pavement reconstruction to a section of settled pavement. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control (contraflow). Work is scheduled for the day as asphalt producers are not available at night.

3) HANAPEPE

Single lane closure and lane shift on Kaumualiʻi Highway (Route 50) at Hanapepe River Bridge in the vicinity of Iona Road on Wednesday, Dec. 15 through Friday, Dec. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge inspections. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control (contraflow).

— KŪHIʻŌ HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

1) LĪHUʻE TO PRINCEVILLE

Roving right lane closure on Kūhiʻō Highway (Route 56) between Rice Street and Kalihiwai Road on Monday, Dec. 13 through Friday, Dec. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for maintenance including cutting grass and clearing of drains and culverts. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control (contraflow).

WAILUA (24-HOUR WEEKLY WORK)

Right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kūhiʻō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapaʻa Bypass, on Saturday, Dec. 11 through Friday, Dec. 17, 24-hours-a-day, for road and shoulder work.

ANAHOLA (24-HOUR WEEKLY WORK)

Shoulder closure and lane shift on Kūhiʻō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between the vicinity of milepost 12 sign to Kukuihale Road, on Saturday, Dec. 11 through Friday, Dec. 17, 24-hours a day to allow crews to work on center lane widening without lane closure.

KĪLAUEA

Right lane closure of Kūhiʻō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction between vicinity of Moloaa Stream/Kapuna Road and Waiakalua Street, on Monday, Dec. 13 through Friday, Dec. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass cutting. Work will begin in the northbound direction and will switch to southbound once northbound landscaping is completed. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control (contraflow)
