1 New COVID Case Reported at KCCC

An employee at Kauai Community Correctional Center has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Department of Public Safety.

This positive test comes several weeks after the facility had been cleared of any infections among staff and inmates. Recent testing among incarcerated revealed 14 negative results.

Niney-one KCCC inmates previously diagnosed with COVID have since recovered. Seven staff members have also previously recovered.

COVID-19 testing is continuously being conducted in the state prisons and jails as well as in the contracted Saguaro Correctional Center in Eloy, AZ. The latest testing updates received for other correctional facilities are as follows:

  • Hawaiʻi Community Correctional Center – 55 negative inmate test results and 19 negative staff results.
  • Oʻahu Community Correctional Center – 30 negative inmate results.
  • Halawa Correctional Facility – Six negative inmate test results.
  • Women’s Community Correctional Center – One negative inmate test result.
