A positive COVID-19 test result is forcing Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation to temporarily close the Kūhiʻō Highway southbound contraflow between Kapule Highway and Kapaʻa Temporary Bypass.

Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation was notified of the positive test result on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Out of an abundance of caution, multiple close contacts are testing for COVID. As a result, there will not be sufficient staffing to set the cones for the southbound contraflow.

The contraflow will be closed today, Thursday and is expected to resume on Friday, Nov. 12. The Kuhio Highway contraflow will not be operational for the Veterans Day holiday.
