Kauaʻi Weekly Lane Closures: Oct. 9-15

Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation announced weekly road and lane closures for Oct. 9-15. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

WAILUA (24-HOUR/WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapaʻa Bypass, on Saturday, Oct. 9, through Friday, Oct. 15, 24-hours-a-day until further notice for road and shoulder work.

ANAHOLA (24-HOUR WORK)

Right shoulder closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in both directions between mile markers 11.8 and 13, Kukuihale Road and Kamalomaloʻo Stream, on Monday, Oct. 11 through Friday, Oct. 15, 24-hours-a-day, for shoulder work.

ANAHOLA

Right lane closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in both directions between Old Kealia Road and S Koʻolau Road, on Monday, Oct. 11 through Friday, Oct. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for landscape maintenance and guardrail work.

KĪLAUEA

Single lane closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in both directions between mile markers 19 and 21.6, Wailapa Road and Kapuna Road, on Monday, Oct. 11 through Friday, Oct. 15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for reconstruction and resurfacing work.

KALIHIWAI (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Right lane closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in both directions between Kahiliholo Road and the Kalihiwai Bridge, on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Monday, Oct. 11 through Friday, Oct. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for landscape maintenance and guardrail work.

HANALEI (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure of Kūhiō Highway (Route 560) in both directions between mile markers 0.0 and 1.3, start of Route 560 and Ohiki Road, on Saturday, Oct. 9 and Monday, Oct. 11 through Friday, Oct. 15, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for Hanalei Hill emergency project construction. There will be an alternating single lane closure along Kūhiō Highway between the Kolopua Apartments and Hanalei Bridge during these work hours.

The schedule for public access is:

Monday – Saturday:

Midnight to 7 a.m. — Two lanes open (no pilot car)

7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. — Single lane alternating traffic (with pilot vehicle escort)

5:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. — Two lanes open (no pilot car)

Sundays and State Holidays: Two lanes open all day (no pilot car)

KALAHEO

Single lane closure of Halewili Road (Route 540) in both directions between mile markers 1 and 3.8, on Monday, Oct. 11 through Friday, Oct. 15, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane. Traffic control flaggers and devices will be in place.
