The National Weather Service in Honolulu issued a high surf advisory for east-facing shores of Kauaʻi starting at 6 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
With trade winds on the increase, choppy surf will build to advisory levels by early Saturday morning, according to NWS.
Surf is expected to be seven to 10 feet. Beachgoers should anticipate strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
