Road Closures, Oct. 2-Oct. 8

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

KUHIO HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560)

1) WAILUA (24-HOUR/WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapaa Bypass, on Saturday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 8, 24-hours-a-day until further notice for road and shoulder work.

2) KAPAA

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Rte 56) in both directions between mile markers 9.6 and 9.9, Mailihuna Road and Kawaihau Road, with alternating traffic control (contraflow) in the remaining lane on Monday, Oct. 4 through Friday, Oct. 8, from 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., for road reconstruction and resurfacing.

3) ANAHOLA

Right lane closure of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between mile markers 13.6 and 16.7, Anahola Bridge and S Koolau Road, on Monday, Oct. 4 through Friday, Oct. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for landscaping and tree trimming work.

4) KILAUEA

Right lane closure of Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between mile markers 24.4 and 25.2, Kahiliholo Road and Kalihiwai Bridge, on Monday, Oct. 4 through Friday, Oct. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail and culvert work.

5) HANALEI (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure of Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in both directions between mile markers 0.0 and 1.3, start of Route 560 and Ohiki Road, on Saturday, Oct. 2 and Monday, Oct. 4 through Friday, Oct. 8, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for Hanalei Hill emergency project construction. There will be an alternating single lane closure along Kuhio Highway between the Kolopua Apartments and Hanalei Bridge during these work hours.

The schedule for public access is:

Monday – Saturday:

• 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. — Two lanes open (no pilot car)
• 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. — Single lane alternating traffic (with pilot vehicle escort)
• 5:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. — Two lanes open (no pilot car)

Sundays and State Holidays:

• Two lanes open all day (no pilot car)

6) HANALEI (WEEKEND WORK)

Right lane closure of Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in the northbound direction between mile markers 1.1 and 2.4, Hanalei Bridge to the Dolphin Restaurant, on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for debris removal work.
