Louisiana Woman Airlifted Off Princeville Trail After Ankle Injury

A Louisiana woman was in stable condition after falling on a trail to Turtle to Cove in Princeville Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Kauaʻi Fire Department first received the report at approximately 5:45 p.m. of a hiker with an ankle injury in the vicinity of Edward Road.

Crews with the Hanalei fire station, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, and American Medical Response responded to the incident shortly after it was reported. When they arrived on scene, they found the 58-year-old woman had fallen and injured her ankle while hiking on the trail.

Rescue 3 utilized a short-haul and air rescue vest to secure the hiker on Air 1 and transported her to a landing zone in the Princeville area.

Responding medics with American Medical Response continued treatment on the hiker before transporting her to Wilcox Hospital in stable condition.

The scene was cleared at approximately 7 p.m.
