The filing deadline for the 2022 Additional Home Exemption Relating to Owner-Occupants’ Income or Very Low Income Tax Credit is Sept. 30, 2021.
This includes all applicants who were automatically approved in 2020.
“All tax exemptions for the 2022 Real Property Assessment are due on Sept. 30, 2021, but we are sending a special reminder for those needing these specific exemptions,” said Finance Director Reiko Matsuyama. “While the requirement to file this exemption was waived last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is no waiver this year and the annual filing requirements have resumed. If you are needing this particular home exemption or tax credit, please remember to file for it by Sept. 30 or sooner.”
Applicants eligible for the 2022 Additional Home Exemption Relating to Owner-Occupants’ Income must meet the gross income of $81,600 or less for all owner-occupants.
Applicants eligible for the 2022 Very Low-Income Tax Credit must meet the gross income of $51,100 or less for all titleholders.
All applicants are required to submit their 2022 application and their 2020 Federal and State of Hawai‘i Income Tax Returns to qualify.
