Total of 45 Inmates Now Positive for COVID-19 at KCCC

Another round of COVID-19 testing at Kauaʻi Community Correctional Center yielded 15 new positive cases bringing the active number of coronavirus cases among inmates to 45.

According to the Public Safety Department, all inmate cases are active. There are two active cases among staff and employee has recovered.

PSD continues to test at all jail and prison facilities statewide. Testing numbers at other locations are as follows:

  • Halawa Correctional Facility – 27 inmate test results: two positive, 25 negative. Three inmates recovered dropping the total active positive inmate count to 62. One staff recovered, dropping total active staff cases to two.
  • Oʻahu Community Correctional Center – three inmate test results: two positive, one negative. one positive staff test result.
  • Maui Community Correctional Center – two inmate test results: one positive, one negative.
  • Women’s Community Correctional Center – one negative inmate test result.
  • Waiawa Correctional Facility – one negative inmate test result.

PSD continues to encourage all staff and inmates to voluntarily get tested and receive the COVID vaccination.
