Mobile Vaccine Van, Pop-Up Clinics Making Rounds Around Kauaʻi

Kaua‘i’s new mobile vaccine van and pop-up clinics are making the rounds around the island for the next three Saturdays. All of the mobile clinics are now open to everyone age 12 and older. No appointments are necessary.

The pop-up clinics offer a choice of Pfizer (12+), Moderna (18+), or Johnson & Johnson (18+) vaccines. Walk-ins are accepted at all the clinics. Participants can register in advance and confirm which vaccine here. For additional help, call Hoʻōla Lahui at 808-938-0938.

The clinics are scheduled below:

Saturday, Aug. 14:

• Kaumakani Community Hall: 8 to 10 a.m.
• Anaina Hou Farmers Market, Kīlauea: 9 to 11 a.m.
• Hanapēpē Hawaiian Church: 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 21:

• Laukona Park: 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 28:

• Kekaha Neighborhood Center: 9 to 11 a.m.

The Kaua‘i District Health Office, Ho‘ola Lahui, Wilcox Medical Center, and Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation are working together to offer free mobile van clinics for Kaua‘i.

Free mobile van clinics for ages 12+ (open from noon to 3 p.m.):

• Thursday, Aug. 12: Kapa‘a Neighborhood center
• Friday, Aug. 13: Hanapēpē Neighborhood Center
• Saturday, Aug. 14: Hanalei Neighborhood Center
• Thursday, Aug. 19: Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center
• Friday, Aug. 20: Līhuʻe Neighborhood Center
• Saturday, Aug. 21: Wainiha County Market

The mobile van clinics are open from noon to 3 p.m. for walk-in vaccinations. No registration is necessary. The vans offer a choice of the Pfizer (12+) or Johnson & Johnson (18+) vaccines.

Individuals being vaccinated should bring a picture I.D. and an insurance card, if they have one. Insurance is not required: the vaccines are free, and no bill will be sent.

Minors ages 12-17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will need to sign a consent form for the minor being vaccinated. The mobile vaccination van will return to these same locations three weeks later to administer second doses for those who get the Pfizer vaccine. The effort is a partnership between the County of Kaua‘i, the Kaua‘i District Health Office, Wilcox Health, and Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation’s Kaua‘i Region.

Clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies

Most clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies on Kaua‘i are also accepting walk-ins for a free vaccine without an appointment. The Pfizer vaccine is available to everyone age 12 and older at Wilcox Medical Center, Līhu‘e Longs, Līhu‘e Safeway, and Hoʻōla Lahui clinics in Waimea and Kapa‘a. The Moderna vaccine is available to adults 18+ at Walmart, Costco, Kaiser, Safeway Kapa‘a, Longs ‘Ele‘ele, Kōloa, and Kapa‘a, Līhu‘e Pharmacy, and Hoʻōla Lahui. The one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available at Kaiser and Hoʻōla Lahui.

Businesses, organizations, and individuals can request a new mobile van operated by the Kaua‘i District Health Office to offer free vaccines to adults 18+ at community gatherings and functions.
