Flood Advisory Issued for Kaua‘i County

A flood advisory has been issued for Kaua‘i County until 1:30 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu. This advisory may need to be extended beyond that time if flooding persists.

NWS reports that at 10:36 a.m., radar indicated heavy rain over Windward Kaua‘i. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. The heaviest rain is currently falling upslope of Wailua.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Līhu‘e, Kapa‘a, Wailua Homesteads, Wailua, North Fork Wailua Trails, Anahola, Wailua River State Park, Hanamaulu, Puhi and Kealia.

Residents and visitors are advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
