Hawai‘i’s Carissa Moore brings home the first-ever Olympic gold medal in the inaugural women’s surfing competition at Tokyo’s 2020 Olympic Games.
Moore, four-time World Surf League champion, defeated South Africa’s Bianca Buitendag 14.93 to 8.46 at Tsurigasaki Beach. Moore’s highest wave scores were 7.60 and 7.33.
