Overnight Water Service Shutdown Scheduled for Install Work in Hanapēpē

An overnight water service shutdown is scheduled in Hanapēpē next week to install a main line and conduct water line work in the area as part of the Department of Water’s Hanapēpē – Ele’ele Water Systems Improvements Project.

The closure starts on Tuesday, July 27 from 8 p.m. and will go until the next day, July 28, at 5 a.m. Closures will take place on a portion of Hanapēpē Road; from Moi Road to Awawa Road, a portion of Puolo Road; from Hanapēpē Road to Kaumuali‘i Highway and includes approximately 12 customers located at the beginning of Awawa Road.

Additionally, partial one lane road closures on Awawa Road and on Hanapēpē Road; near the intersection of Moi Road and Hanapēpē Road, will be in place. Access to Puolo Road from Hanapēpē Road and the Hanapēpē Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic during the overnight work. Flagger personnel will be in place to assist. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes when possible.

Customers located in the affected service area are advised to prepare for the service shutdown by taking the following steps:

Store water to meet your needs until water service can be restored.
Notify neighbors, family and friends of the shutdown.
Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that their water heater does not empty during the shutdown.
