COVID Hospitalizations on Rise Across Multiple Islands

The Hawai‘i Department of Health reported 61 new cases of coronavirus statewide Tuesday, bringing the overall total to 38,605. No new COVID-related deaths were reported.

The state’s two-week average is 63 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 2.3%.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 27,562
Maui: 3,929
Hawai‘i: 3,301
Kaua‘i: 425
Lana‘i: 112
Moloka‘i: 56
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 1,412

A total of 2,536 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 521 have died.

To date, more than 65% of state residents have begun their vaccination schedules, while nearly 59% are considered fully vaccinated.
