Swimmer rescued at Lumaha‘i Beach in Critical Condition

A visitor is in critical condition after being rescued out of waters at Lumaha‘i Beach on Wednesday, June 16.

Kaua‘i Fire Department initially responded to a report of a distressed swimmer at approximately 10:50 a.m. While Engine 1 and Truck 1 were on route, the Ocean Bureau’s Roving Ski Patrol located the 31-year-old man and brought him to the lifeguard tower at Pine Trees Beach for medical support.

Firefighters and responding personnel from American Medical Response arrived on the scene at approximately 11 a.m. to assist with medical treatment.

Accompanied with a firefighter, responding medics with AMR provided advanced life support and continued efforts on the swimmer, who was transported to Wilcox Hospital in critical condition.

The scene was cleared at approximately 11:25 a.m.
