The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation has modified the scheduled single lane public access of Kūhiō Highway approaching Hanalei Hill for summer.

Route 560 on the north shore of Kaua‘i was limited to single-lane access due to a landslide after a storm in March. HDOT has spent the past few months working to stabilize the hillside. The single-lane access with alternating traffic control lead by a pilot vehicle escort is necessary until the slope is stabilized above and below Kuhio Highway at mile marker 1. The new access schedule has been changed now that school is out of session. Starting Wednesday, June 2, the access schedule will be as follows:

Weekdays (Monday through Friday)
