Concrete Work Calls for Full Closure to Portion of Kaumuali‘i Highway
A full closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is scheduled between Hana and Puolo Roads for concrete work on the Hanapēpē River Bridge.
The closure is scheduled for Tuesday, June, 1, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The full closure will allow crews to pour the deck of the new Hanapēpē River Bridge.
The contractor will occupy the temporary bridge for staging the concrete delivery trucks and the pump truck. Kaumuali‘i Highway will be closed in both directions during these work hours. If the work is completed sooner than anticipated, the bridge will be opened up to motorists at that time.
During the closure, the traveling public will be detoured to Hanapēpē Bridge, which has a posted weight limit of 10 tons. Traffic control flaggers will be stationed at Hana Road, Puolo Road, and the county’s Hanapēpē Bridge to manage this detour. Emergency vehicles will be allowed to access the temporary bridge as needed. Electronic message boards will be posted to inform the public.
All roadwork is weather permitting.
