Emergency Team Rescues Hiker From Ho‘opi‘i Falls

Firefighters responded to a hiker in distress Sunday afternoon at Ho‘opi‘i Falls in Kapa‘a.

Kaiākea firefighters were notified around 1:40 pm of a 43-year-old Kapa‘a man who reportedly injured his leg after jumping off the rocks and into the water at Ho‘opi‘i Falls.

Firefighters hiked to the man’s location and requested Air 1 assistance after assessing his injuries.

Rescue 3 personnel aboard Air 1 arrived at the scene and short-hauled the man to a nearby landing zone at Kapahi Park where awaiting AMR medics provided further assistance.

The man left in a private vehicle to seek further treatment.
