East winds 25 to 30 mph are in the forecast, with localized gusts over 45 mph expected.

Areas of impact include all of ´Ni´ihau and Kaua´i. The strongest winds will be felt near mountain tops and passes, trade wind-exposed areas, and around incoming showers.

Historically, after a period of very heavy rainfall and saturated soils, wind speeds similar to what is expected has caused property damage and power outages from fallen trees.

Watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving. Residents and businesses are urged to take appropriate actions to protect their property. Make sure to secure loose objects, tents and awnings or take them down. Be prepared for power outages.
