A high surf advisory has been issued for east-facing shores until March 17 at 6 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, a northwest swell will decline today, while trade winds begin to strengthen tonight into Wednesday, which will maintain high surf along east-facing shores.

Surf 7 to 10 feet expected today and 6 to 8 feet on Wednesday along east facing shores of Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Moloka‘i, Maui and Big Island.

Impacts will be moderate. Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
