Flood Advisory Issued for Kaua‘i Till 4 p.m.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for Kaua‘i County until 4 p.m.
At 12:38 p.m., radar indicated an increasing amount of fast-moving showers moving over Kauai from the northeast. While these showers are not remaining over any one area for a prolonged amount of time, their repeated development over the mountains will lead to rising water levels in streams and rivers across the entire island as the ground remains saturated.
A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 4 p.m. flooding persists.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to the entire island, especially north and east Kaua‘i.
Residents are advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
