Flood Advisory in Kaua‘i County Extended to 7 p.m.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the a flood advisory for Kaua‘i County until 7 p.m.
At 3:25 p.m., radar and satellite indicated numerous showers moving over Kaua‘i from the northeast, with additional showers extending well upstream. Showers are moving quickly, but their repeated development over the slopes is expected to continue. The ground is saturated, so runoff will be high.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to the entire island, especially north and east Kaua‘i.
Residents are advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 7 p.m. if flooding persists.
