The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for Kaua‘i County until noon.

At 8:51 a.m., radar indicated heavy rainfall moving over Kaua‘i from the southwest with rates up to one inch per hour. A more intense band of rainfall, with rates of one to two inches per hour, is approaching the island from the west. This band should reach the west side of Kaua‘i within an hour and move across the island.

This advisory includes the entire island of Kaua‘i. This advisory may need to be extended beyond noon if flooding persists.

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
