Flash Flood Warning Issued Till 2 p.m.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flash flood warning for Kaua‘i County until 2 p.m.
At 11:02 a.m., radar and rain gages indicated very heavy rainfall across southeast Kaua‘i. The most intense rainfall was over the southeast portion of the island from Lihue to Kalaheo with peak rain rates of two to three inches per hour. Kauai Emergency Management reported the flooding of multiple roads on the south side of the island.
This warning replaces the Flood Advisory that was in effect for Kaua‘i County. This warning may need to be extended beyond 2 p.m. if flooding persists.
locations that will experience flash flooding include Līhu‘e, Kapa‘a, Kalāheo, Kekaha, Kīlauea, North Fork Wailua Trails, Wailua Homesteads, Omao, Lawai, Koloa, Wailua, Po‘ipū, Hanapepe, Anahola, Moloa‘a, Waimea, Puhi, Wailua River State Park, Hanamaulu and Ele‘ele.
Residents are advised to stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even if they are currently dry.
